What could be better than sipping on freshly squeezed lemonade during a summer sunset? Sipping on lemonade made with blueberry and lavender and spiked with vodka, that’s what! Sweet blueberries, which are in season in late summer, mix beautifully with tart lemons and lightly floral lavender. Unlike most lemonade recipes, this one doesn’t require tons of sugar. It’s simply the best.
I discovered two ways to make this drink. Which one you choose will depend on what kind of lavender is available to you (fresh or dried). It’s really easy to muddle up some lavender for one drink, or brew tea for a full pitcher of lemonade. Scroll down for the recipe!

Blueberry lavender lemonade with vodka is the perfect cocktail for summer evenings. This purple drink is sweetened with agave nectar and real blueberries. There are two ways to make this, with fresh rosemary sprigs or by making rosemary tea with dried lavender (if you are using dried lavender, you’ll need to make your lavender tea in advance so it has time to cool). Please taste your lemonade as you go and adjust accordingly. I prefer tart to sweet, so ½ teaspoon of agave was plenty for me, but feel free to add more. Enjoy!
Ingredients
Per cocktail
- 15 blueberries
- 2 lemons, juiced
- ½ teaspoon agave nectar or simple syrup (or more, to taste)
- 1 ½ ounces vodka (I used Tito’s) or gin (Hendrick’s suggested)
- 3 sprigs of fresh lavender and ⅔ cup cold water OR ⅔ cup lavender tea made with dried lavender (see instructions)
- Plenty of ice
Instructions
- If you are using fresh lavender (which is easier): In a mixing glass, thoroughly muddle the sprigs of lavender with the blueberries. Squeeze in the juice of two lemons, add agave nectar and vodka.
- Add up to ⅔ cup cold water (more or less to taste). Use a fork to whisk the agave nectar into the rest of the liquid.
- Fill your glass with ice, and stir with a spoon.
- To make tea instead: Add one to two teaspoons of dried lavender per cup of hot water. Let steep for about five minutes, and strain out the lavender. Let cool.
- In a mixing glass, muddle 15 blueberries. Squeeze in the juice of two lemons, add agave nectar and vodka. Use a fork to whisk the agave nectar into the rest of the liquid.
- Add up to ¾ cup of tea to your drink. Taste it as you go and feel free to dilute it with water if you find it the lavender taste is too strong. Fill your glass with ice, and stir up your lemonade with a spoon.

That looks delicious and I sure wish our weather would be suitable at the moment for lovely lemonades like that. But I’ll definitely keep it in mind for when we DO get some sunshine (which is unlikely to happen this year…) Love the photos too!

What a gorgeous drink. I wish I had one to try right now, I love each of those flavors together. Last year I made blueberry lavender jam and it had a touch of lemon. It was divine and your lemonade looks even better. I can’t wait to try it.

Just stumbled on over and this looks gorgeous. I’m always a sucker for anything in a mason jar
Kristin
So….this might be a dumb question, but in the picture isn’t that rosemary and not lavender?? I’m a little confused. Rosemary OR Lavender would be good, but it totally looks like rosemary to me…
kate
I totally understand your confusion. I’m looking at my potted rosemary and potted lavender now and they look a lot alike, but that’s definitely lavender!

I love your website/blog. Its so inspiring and makes me want to get in the kitchen. I was looking at your summer section because this girl is soooo ready for summer! This little fruity drink is great and I will just minus the alcohol and its still amazing! Pretty presentation as well, that makes all the difference!
Kate
Thank you, Nitra! I do love this lemonade; citrus is in season now, if you want to give it a try a few months early!
Stephanie
This recipe was awesome! I didn’t have any lavender b/c I found this on the fly but it still turned out excellent. I did throw in a couple of strawberries that needed to get used. I can’t wait to try it with the lavender! Definitely a keeper!! Thank you :)
Kate
Thanks, Stephanie! Glad you enjoyed the lemonade! I bet it’s delicious with strawberries.
Kara
I’m going to make this delicious looking lemonade for a baby shower this weekend! Any tips on how to make a bigger batch? Otherwise it’s a lot of lemons to hand sqeeze! :)
Kate
Kara, I’m so sorry your comment slipped by me. You could probably just make some lavender tea (I have instructions for that in the post) and mix it into some high quality lemonade. If you want to make it by hand, I have this citrus juicer (bought it at Williams Sonoma) and it makes squeezing lemons way easier.
Peter
Hi Kate do you discard the blueberries after they are muddled or do you leave them in the lemonade?
Kate
I left them in there!

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme of this
site. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get
that “perfect balance” between superb usability and visual appearance.
I must say you’ve done a great job with this. Additionally,
the blog loads very quick for me on Chrome. Excellent Blog!

One of the significant factors from the Tel Aviv hotels is that they are
situated close to the hub of your city, which is very simple for the tourists and the visitors to
access. Despite the name (roughly ‘adolescent eighteen-year-old’s ticket’), it can be used by anyone regardless of
age. The entire Bangkok district would give you a diverse taste of culture, history, religion, modernity, and fast-phase
life.

It was selfish!! I wish the made this recipe ingredients for a pitcher though. I just tried my best and it was good! I made it for multiple people on 4th of July! You do need the agave nectar to balance the lemon.
karen
sorry, but isn’t that rosemary in the pics – not lavender?
Kate
It’s lavender. :)
