I’m so excited to share some helpful new features on Cookie and Kate. Finally, you can save your favorite recipes for easy access. Then, you can easily compile your grocery list from those recipes. How cool is that?
You can even order your groceries directly through this tool, if you’d like, or print a grocery list organized by grocery aisle. All of this is made possible through a partnership with Relish, the creators of this helpful technology. It’s all entirely free for you to use!
I hope these new features help you get dinner on the table with more ease. Keep reading and I’ll walk you through how to use them.
How to Save a Recipe
First, go to the recipe itself. Each post has a handy “jump to recipe” button that will take you to the right place.
To save a recipe, click the “save” button within the recipe itself. It will turn black to show that you’ve successfully saved the recipe, as shown below. (If this does not work for you, please clear your browser’s cache.)
You can also save the recipe by clicking the “shop ingredients” button below the ingredients. This button will save the recipe and open Relish at the same time.
Feedback, please: Would you prefer for the other “save” button to open Relish as well? I can make that happen.
How to Access Saved Recipes
To access saved recipes and open Relish, click the “saved” link. It’s located at the top of every page on this website. Or, as mentioned, the “shop ingredients” button under the ingredients will both save the recipe and open Relish.
How to Use Relish
Once you’ve opened Relish, I recommend logging into Relish. You can create an account specifically for Relish or sign in with a Google account. This way, your saved recipes are safe and you can access them on any device (your computer, your phone, your iPad, etc.). Look in the top left corner to see if you’re logged in.
In the lefthand column, you’ll see your saved recipes. On the righthand side, you’ll see their combined grocery list.
To remove a recipe from the grocery list, click the green grocery cart icon beside it. That way, it will stay in your saved list. If you’d rather remove it altogether, click the “remove” link.
If you are not seeing your list separated by grocery aisle, simply click the “aisles” link in the upper right corner.
To print your grocery list, click the “print” link in the upper right corner.
To go ahead and order your groceries, choose your preferred delivery service/grocery store in the dropdown under the grocery list. The delivery options will vary depending on your location, but often include Instacart, Wal-Mart and Shipt.
Here’s an Example of a Print Page
This page was created after I selected the “aisles” feature within Relish. Pretty great, right? Now you can print your list for a streamlined grocery store shopping experience.
More Websites Using Relish
Relish works across other websites, too. Here are a few:
What do you think? Is Relish helpful to you? Feedback and suggestions on how to make Relish work better on Cookie and Kate are welcome!
Hennessy
this is super cool!
Kate
Thanks, Hennessy! :)
Sasha
The save recipes feature is a great addition which I will make a lot of use of! I don’t need the shopping list feature so my preference would be for the other save button not to open Relish.
Kate
Thank you, Sasha!
Lin
Love this so much! Thank you! You asked for feedback on wanting the other save button to open Relish. My vote is yes please.
I look forward to using this as I save so many of your wonderful recipes. Again thank you.
Hope Cookie is doing well!
Kate
Thank you, Lin! Cookie says hi. We’re about to go for our evening walk!

Kate,
I’ve been following you for several years, have your cookbook, have purchased for others. I haven’t made EVERYTHING in your book, but so many things. We always find them flavorful, not too difficult and beautiful (oh, and healthy too!). I appreciate your emails to re-inspire me on off days. Thank you for being such a positive force in a very difficult world (country) right now. The pics of Cookie put the whole experience over the top. :)
Kate
Thank you so much, Leslie. I often wonder if I’m doing the right thing, and your words mean more than you could know!
Rhon
I appreciate you and your recipes and have followed you a long time. But it is just a bit too much info overload for me with all of the ads and things to go through. Too much going on with the site.
Kate
Hi Rhon, thank you for your feedback and I’m sorry you’re finding the ad experience overwhelming. I really do try to keep the ads in a healthy balance—they pay for the costs of running the site and let me do what I love for a living!
Maya
This is so great!
Kate
Thanks, Maya!
Dawn Cowles
This is great news Kate. Thanks for organising such a great option, I will definitely be using it in the future.
Kate
Thanks Dawn! Hope it proves to be a very useful tool for you.
grace
Can’t wait to try it! I’m happy for the former option for the save button.
Kate
Thank you for your feedback, Grace!
Ken
Thank you for posting this, Kate. I’m sure that I will try it out.
I make a lot of your recipes or use your recipes for ideas. My “system” for saving recipes and ideas is a little haphazard. I’m not a social media person so I use my wife’s Pinterest account to save some of the recipes. I also send myself texts with links to your recipes and/or use the note app that I have on my phone and keep links to our favorite recipes on your website or other websites. It’s all kind of unorganized and sometimes I forget where I’ve saved something. Hopefully, this will make things more streamlined. I’ll leave more feedback once I’m able to check it out a bit more closely.
Kate
Thanks so much, Ken! Hope this system proves to be helpful.
Julia Rodriguez-Buis
This is perfection!!! I’m an “A” type at heart but my physical self tends to NOT organise things in a concise manner as my brain is telling me to do. THIS helps sooo much!!! Hugs from Germany :)
Kate
I feel you, Julia! Hope this tool is just what you need!
Marysia
I’m going to try this. I also have a hit and miss system.
I like the idea of save for the recipe and shop ingredients to go to Relish.
Kate
Noted! Thank you, Marysia. :)
Jan
I’ve been saving and making your recipes for years and haven’t made one yet that we haven’t loved, but to do so, I’ve been printing them out and then retyping them into my MacGourmet program. I’m looking forward to giving Relish a try. It will save me the step of printing out your recipes first, thereby saving some trees, plus I will then have all of your recipes in one place. :)
Kate
That’s wonderful to hear, Jan! Hope you enjoy this new feature.
Chelsea W
Hi Kate! I’ve been making your recipes for years and bought your cookbook too. Never one stinker, so I recommend you to friends often. I’ve been using this feature for about 3 weeks now and it’s a game changer. Taking shopping time out of the equation gives me a lot more energy to put toward cooking instead. I’m a convert. Thank you for offering it.
Kate
Awesome! I’m so glad to hear it, Chelsea. Thank you for your note and happy cooking!
Ojan Cromie
Dear Kate and Cookie,
I bought your cookbook as soon as it came out and I love it. I try making meals from other cookbooks I have but I keep returning to your recipes over and over again because they are simple to make with your clear instructions and so tasty. I will try this new method though because I’m sure there are some recipes of yours I haven’t tried yet. Thanks so much.
Ojan
Kate
Thank you so much, Ojan. That’s the best compliment! Have a great day.
Mimi
Please set this up in the UK it seems like a great tool
Kate
I will ask Relish if they’ll be expanding anytime soon!
Brian
Looking forward to using this feature! I vote for keeping the top Save button just a save button–not everyone will want to use Relish for ingredients so it could get annoying if both buttons open the shopping list.
Kate
Thanks Brian! I appreciate the feedback! Think I’ll leave it as-is.

Hey Kate your work here on the website looks really amazing its filled with positivity and a lot of soothing charm. Although I am a new user but I feel from now on I will be a consistent visitor and will keep up with you.
Thanks for existing
Love and regards
Sudhakar
Kate
Thank you so much for your kind words, Sudhakar. Have a lovely weekend!

Hi Kate,
I just wanted to echo the sentiments about how fabulous your recipes are. I absolutely love your cookbook and I use it weekly. We’ve improved our eating habits because of your delicious and straightforward recipes. I was reading a different cookbook last night and it bothered me so much because it called for using four pans and two bowls just to make rice pilaf. I complained out loud to my husband, “Ugh, Kate would have figured out a better way!” :-) You are doing so much good and I am so appreciative and thankful for you. Keep up the great work!!! I love your blog and cookbook and will give this Relish app a try. Thanks!
Kate
Jo Jo, your comment made my day! Thank you so much. You keep me going! :)
Jenny
Hi Kate! I may have not understood it correctly, but when I tried to save the recipe directly on your website it doesn’t save that recipe on my relish account. I still need to open my relish account and search for your recipe then save it from there. Please help me on this.
And oh, I love your recipes!
Much love from Dubai:-)
Kate
Hi Jenny! Thank you for letting me know. It should be that easy—have you signed into Relish in the upper left corner of the Relish pop-up on my site? I hope that would do the trick. If not, let me know, and I will ask Relish what’s going on!
Adrienne
I currently use “Plan to Eat” as a recipe saver/grocery lister/meal planner. The feature that’s particularly useful to me is the calendar (which has breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack slots). I put recipes into the calendar and it automatically generates a grocery list. Your recipes feature large in our diet! Love all of it! But I have to manually enter yours; because of the way the app uses URLs to save recipes, it leaves off anything you have in multiple sections (like dressings for salad, e.g.). Switching to Relish seems like a great option, except it looks like it doesn’t have a calendar planning capability! If you were able to pair your “save” function with Plan To Eat OR if Relish added a calendar planning function, I’d be elated!
Kate
Hi Adrienne! I’m glad you have a system that works. I will share your feature requests with Relish—that sounds like a really awesome solution!
