Last weekend, I scampered off to Kansas City after my three-year-long relationship with my boyfriend came to a close. My friend Jordan kindly offered me her guest room for a four-day, much-needed respite. We shopped the Plaza and lunched in Westport, wandered through exhibits in the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and the Nelson-Atkins, and lounged at Jordan and her husband’s cute and cozy home in Waldo.
I had the chance to meet their new friends in Kansas City, who all happen to have roots in Oklahoma. We laughed over drinks at Manifesto, a modern-day speakeasy in the basement of the Rieger Hotel. We texted the owner for a reservation and entered through a back alley, then walked downstairs into a candle-lit bar with a fast-talking bartender. The cocktails were pricey, but worth every penny. It was quite an experience!
Now I’m back in Oklahoma, AKA “the real world”, but I want to know: What is your favorite American city to visit, and why?

I love Kansas City, I’ve only been once for a short visit but I was intrigued by it. I’d say of the cities I’ve been to either Chicago or Richmond are my faves.

Oo, I LOVE Chicago! I’ve only visited during nice summer weather, though. I don’t think I could handle the cold winters!
I’ve never been to Richmond, however. What’s so great about it? Now I’m curious!
