I can’t believe it! It’s been a little over two months since my cookbook baby started landing on your doorsteps. After toiling away on the book for over two years and double-triple-quadruple-octuple-checking every recipe for every tiny detail, I’m completely thrilled and blown away by your enthusiasm for the book. Thank you!
Today, I wanted to share some of the amazing Instagram photos that you have shared with me using the #LoveRealFood hashtag. Please keep them coming! Sometimes, I can’t tell if I love the photo or the caption more. To those who have shared pictures of the book with your pets—you get me. I couldn’t resist sharing those pics in the list below.
Are you enjoying Love Real Food at home? Here are a few ways that you can spread the love:
- Tell your friends and family about it! In person or online. Or better yet, make them a recipe from the book and tell them where you got it.
- Give the book as a gift! It’s very reasonably priced on Amazon right now. Give it to veggie lovers (or to someone who should maybe eat more vegetables), dog lovers, and to new and experienced home cooks. Everyone, basically.
- Look for the book in your local bookstores—if it’s not there, ask them to start carrying it! If it is there, move a few copies to a more prominent location. (I’ve done that, no shame.)
- Could you spare a few minutes to write a review with your experience of the book? Those reviews go a long way in the long-term success of the book, and I am so grateful for your kind words. I read every one! Here’s a list of online retailers where you can review the book: Amazon, Anthropologie, Barnes & Noble, BAM!, and Indigo.

THAT LITTLE BUNNY.
Just got your book last week and can’t wait to mess it all up in my kitchen with food splashes and wine spills and notes and dog-eared pages :)
Kate
I *still* can’t get over that bunny! Have fun saucin’ up those pages, Lis!

My goodness, no wonder people are raving. I’ve been trying to discipline myself not to by more cookbooks when so many lovely recipes can be found online, but I think you’ve broken down my resolve with this one!
Kate
I hope so! ;)
Marcia
What a darling post, Kathryne! I’m must confess I’m especially smitten with the animal posts myself (I have 5 dogs…), but such lovely pictures of your recipes as well!
I’m also glad you brought up the topic of posting reviews on Amazon etc. As one of your longtime fans, I swore I had already done that but turns out I hadn’t! I remedied that posthaste. It’s now on Amazon and I meant every word of it. And wow, do you have some admirers there! Continued best wishes with this success.
Kate
Aw, thank you for adding a review, Marcia! I’m glad this served as a reminder for you. Thanks so much for reading!

These Instagram photos are making me hungry. Great creativity shown by the posters.
Kate
Yes! I’m always impressed at my readers’ creativity.

Hi Kate, I have never commented on anything online before, but your cookbook compelled me to do so (a first!). Love Real Food is wonderful! I can’t remember how I found your blog, but EVERYTHING I have tried from you works out great and tastes delicious! I’m living with a family of dedicated meat-eaters, but they have, with ever more enthusiasm, allowed for a meat-free day, where we try something from your cookbook (Chickpea Tikki Masala was a recent favourite). I love your salads and all 4 dressings in your cookbook are to die for. Thanks for all your work in creating such tasty items, for working your recipes to perfection, and for your careful preparation steps. It will be dog-eared and food-splashed soon! :)
Kate
This is so kind of you, Judith! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I hope you continue to enjoy the book!
Hilary
Eeeeep! So excited to see my post among all of these! I was having a bummer day and this just brightened my mood. (Also, that tiny bunny in bookly_reads photo AHHHHHH <3.) Thanks for this great little roundup, Kate! I just counted and since getting the book, I've so far made 11 of the recipes. The Moroccan Roasted Carrot, Arugula & Wild Rice salad is my #1 fav thus far…we've made it five times already, I think! The flavors are just so ridiculously good. Can't wait to keep cooking through the book!
Kate
I’m glad this could brighten up your day, Hilary! I hope you to continue cooking from the book and loving the recipes. :)
Carly
I got mine a few weeks ago and I want to “Julie and Julia” the crap out of this thing. I seriously think I will make them all. Everything so far as been awesome and my husband and kids have loved it. Seriously thank you.
Kate
You’re welcome, Carly! Enjoy.

I just picked up your book from my local library and its soooo good that I’m going to purchase my own! There are so many recipes I’m excited to try and the photos are beautiful! Already made your white bean pesto and it was delish!
Kate
Hooray for libraries! I’m so glad you enjoyed the book so much that you decided to pick up a copy of your own.

sarah
Hello Kate! Just couldn’t help but notice…and I have to ask, do you have a new sidekick?…just adorable! Please share.
Kate
Hi, Sarah! Nope, that’s @osmiaorganics’s border collie! How cute, right?
Melanie
Eeep! That’s my photo up there! Oh, Kate, thank you so much for featuring it. I honestly haven’t stopped trying recipes since I got your cookbook. It is so reliable and versatile! I can find something in your cookbook for any mood I’m in and anything I’m craving. Your soups in particular are heavenly! I can’t applaud your cookbook enough and I don’t know how I can ever thank you enough for writing and testing each of these recipes to make them so perfect. Please know that your hard work over the years has paid off a tenfold with the greatness that is the Love Real Food cookbook.
Kate
Thank you so much for posting about the book, Melanie! I’m so lucky to have such great readers who share my recipes with their friends and family.

Ask & you shall receive! I’ve been meaning to leave a review. Finally did. Loving the new cook book! Glad to hear it’s a success!
Kate
Thanks, Jessica!
Allie
Though I love the recipes that I’ve tried from the blog, I almost didn’t buy the cookbook because I have a legume allergy (not black beans yet, thank goodness, but peanuts, chickpeas, soy, and peas) so I’m limited with what vegetarian meals work for me. However, I couldn’t resist so I bought it, and I’m very glad I did! It just came in the mail and immediately my husband and I sat down and went through every page. Everything looks amazing. I have so many new ideas for ways to make healthy food that work for me. I really appreciate how you have suggestions for substitutes, and I love at the beginning how you make the point that even if we add meat (as I often do to get protein when I omit the legumes), the recipes are designed to be filling and delicious as they are. Thank you so much!
Kate
I’m so glad you still found the book useful, Allie! And yes, feel free to experiment and add whatever fits your dietary needs. I tried to make sure they were all very flexible for that very reason.
Denise
Hi Kate! I’m a longtime reader, and first-time commenter. I love your blog and was so excited to get the book. All of the recipes I’ve tried so far have been great. The blueberry maple muffins and carrot cake breakfast cookies have become my new morning routine. And I’ve been looking for a foolproof popcorn recipe for years, and yours makes perfect popcorn each time. As others have mentioned, the carrot/wild rice/arugula salad is delicious. I enjoy it as a make-ahead lunch. I’ve always been a fan of soups, and the roasted cauliflower soup is already one of my favorites. Thanks for all the great recipes!
Kate
You’re welcome, Denise! Sounds like you’re getting some great use out of the book. :)

I love your cookbook! I have made the cauliflower soup, enchiladas, and several other recipes. I just made the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies (which are delicious) and froze half of them. I have two questions. How do you eat the frozen ones? And do you add the oil that separates out of natural peanut butter?
Kate
Thank you!! Great questions. You can let the cookies thaw on your counter, in the fridge or even give them a zap in the microwave. Your choice! For the natural peanut butter, make sure you give it a good stir before using to get everything nice an blended. Hope this helps!
MP
Super helpful thank you! Also, I just left a review of the book on Amazon which I had been meaning to do for a while….
Kate
Thanks so much!!
Lauren
Hi Kate, I’ve been a fan of your blog for years and recently got your cookbook as a birthday present. I’d like to make the taco salad, but unfortunately, I’m allergic to quinoa. Do you have any suggestions for substitutes? Thanks!
Kate
Hi Lauren! Thanks for getting the cookbook. That’s unfortunate! I haven’t heard of many allergic to quinoa. You could try brown rice as a substitute or possibly farro depending on the dish! Rice would work great with the taco salad.
Lauren
Thanks, Kate!
